If you haven’t yet seen the documentary video that Jonny MacDonald of Flying Boy Films created about legendary AE86 driver Taka Aono, you really need to watch this!

As an AE86 driver himself, Jonny produced and directed this film out of pure passion for the AE86 Corolla GT-S, with utmost respect for Formula Drift driver Taka Aono. Veteran driver Taka is clearly one of the most loved underdogs in the Formula D Championship, driving his AE86 into battle against drivers with more than double the horsepower and torque of his 28 year old car.

Much respect to Jonny MacDonald for his tireless work on this video, which uses the story of Taka and his AE86 to paint a picture of pure passion and unrelenting determination.

In honor of our FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY, we’re celebrating by introducing the 86FEST Challenge presented by Disc Brakes Australia, a One-Make Racing event with All-AE86 and All-FRS/BRZ driving groups running the Auto Club Speedway Infield Course in Fontana CA on Saturday August 6, 2016.

One group will be entirely comprised of old school Toyota 86 drivers behind the wheel of a classic AE86 chassis Corolla GTS, Sprinter Trueno, or Corolla Levin.

The other group will be entirely comprised of the new 86 chassis, aka Toyota 86, Scion FRS, and Subaru BRZ. These drivers will be a mixture of 86Cup competition drivers and weekend warriors with track prepared street cars!

Join us at 86FEST presented by Turn14 on 8/6 in Fontana, and join all the other 86 fans in cheering on the army of new and old 86 vehicles competing in the DBA USA 86FEST Challenge!
